Conversations with God

I wanted to talk about a realtionship with God this morning. Please don’t stop reading if you do not have a faith, because this is for everyone.

I am a Christian and for me that means I love Jesus and have given my life over to Him. It isn’t always easy, but it is nonetheless wonderful. Because I would describe God as loving, compassionate, kind, just and faithful. And Jesus or Yeshua to give Him His Hebrew name, is the same, exactly the same.

Each day I start my day with a cuppa with God. I talk to Him and often read the bible. It really sets me up for the day. I love my conversations with God in the quietness of the early morning. I get inspired, challenged corrected.

I am way off perfect and one lesson I have learnt over my years on this planet is not to judge others. I try my best to veer away from that, especially in my thinking. We all make mistakes and letting people off when they have hurt us intentionally or unintentionally is a good thing. This is forgiveness.

Today’s recipe of hope is to have a conversation with God if you would like to. Even if you would not describe yourself as a believer. And if you don’t want to do that then take some space to be quiet with your thoughts and think about your personal belief system and what it means to you. Ask yourself some questions. And don’t be afraid of new paths to explore, or new challenges to face.

May we all enjoy conversations with those precious to us X

Standing on a cliff

Many years ago I stood on a cliff and shouted to God ‘if you’re out there help me’. I believe He answered this prayer and I have experienced a journey of faith now over several decades. Yes I have suffered, yes I have made some mistakes I deeply regret, but I am assured that a loving heavenly Father always forgives me and will never let me down.

Today I want to write about the gift that I have found is the greatest hope of all in life; the promise of eternal life. I am using the inspirational publication ‘Word For Today’ as my aid to write today’s message. It is full of treasure; daily encouraging words that are a great beginning to every morning. I am using the Hebrew name for Jesus.

In John 1 verse 14 it states: ‘The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth’.

This is paraphrased by Eugene Peterson: ‘The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighbourhood. We saw the glory with own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, generous inside and out, true from start to finish’.

Another beautiful passage in the bible (John 3:16), reads: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

So the recipe of Hope today is to reflect on these words from ‘The Word For Today’ ‘God loves you and wants to bless every area of your life’. If you do not have a Christian faith I would ask you to consider your view of God and reflect on life’s meaning for you. If you have a Christian belief and may be struggling with regrets, God always gives you a second chance. Don’t look back, but press towards a brighter tomorrow.

May you all be richly blesssed X
